About the role:
EdStaff are seeking an experienced and pro-active Cover Supervisor to join their team of cover supervisors who work in secondary schools across the Wigan area. We actively support a range of schools across the area with absences on both a daily and long-term basis, with the option for flexible and on the day roles. As a cover supervisor you will be responsible for supervising classes when teachers are absent or during PPA time, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment. You will support with the completion of pre-planned work across all year groups and across different subjects depending on school need. This is an ideal role for somebody with experience of working with young people and looking to take their next step in their career or an ECT looking to gain further classroom experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise classes across all key stages (KS3 and 4) in the absence of subject teachers
- Supervise the completion of pre-planned lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
- Promote positive behaviour
- Support students with their learning
- Take accurate registers and report concerns to relevant staff
- Assist with general school duties as required
- Adhere to school policies and procedure
Person specification:
- Confident classroom presence
- Flexible and adaptable
- Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage students aged 11-16
- Able to efficiently build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
Essential requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
- References to cover the last 2-year period
