About the role:

EdStaff are looking for an experienced and passionate SEN Curriculum Lead to lead the delivery of a highly personalised curriculum within a Thrive & Belong cohort, supporting learners with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex medical, physical, sensory and communication needs.

You will plan and deliver individualised learning programmes based on each learner’s EHCP, abilities, interests and long-term outcomes, using sensory, experiential and highly differentiated approaches.

The role also involves leading Learning Support Assistants, working with multidisciplinary professionals and building positive relationships with families to ensure a consistent, person-centred approach.

Key responsibilities:

· Plan and deliver personalised learning in line with individual EHCP outcomes, needs, abilities and interests.

· Deliver sensory, experiential and differentiated learning appropriate for learners with PMLD and complex needs.

· Support communication using intensive interaction, objects of reference, symbols, switches, AAC and individual communication systems.

· Assess and evidence progress in communication, cognition, independence, engagement and social interaction.

· Promote preparation for adulthood through independence, life skills, relationships, community participation and vocational experiences.

· Lead and coordinate Learning Support Assistants, ensuring consistent implementation of learning programmes.

· Work collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, nurses, behaviour specialists and other professionals.

· Incorporate physical and sensory needs into learning, including positioning, mobility, sensory regulation and specialist equipment.

· Contribute to personal care and health plans, maintaining dignity, choice, safety and independence.

· Support positive behaviour approaches by understanding communication, sensory and environmental factors.

· Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, moving and handling procedures and risk assessments.

· Contribute to EHCP and annual reviews, providing accurate assessment information.

· Develop positive relationships with parents and carers, sharing progress and promoting consistency.

· Create an inclusive and stimulating environment that maximises participation, communication, choice and quality of life.

Person specification:

· Genuine experience and passion for working with learners with PMLD and complex SEN.

· Experience planning and delivering personalised learning programmes.

· Strong understanding of sensory, experiential and differentiated teaching approaches.

· Knowledge of AAC and alternative communication methods.

· Experience assessing and recording progress against individual outcomes and EHCP targets.

· Ability to lead and work collaboratively with support staff and professionals.

· Understanding of complex medical, physical, sensory and communication needs.

· Positive, patient and person-centred approach to behaviour and development.

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

· Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, dignity, independence and wellbeing.

Essential requirements:

· Right to work in the UK.

· Relevant teaching qualification and/or specialist SEN experience.

· Demonstrable experience working with learners with PMLD and complex learning needs.

· Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

· Able to provide references covering a two-year period.
