This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer to join EDSB Compliance Solutions, an established national compliance business, as part of a newly formed division. You will be an integral member of the team, applying your existing skills and expertise to help shape and develop this specialist area of the business. To produce compliant, efficient, and accurate sprinkler system designs in accordance with EN 12845, BS 9251, and LPC 1048. The role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with sprinkler design software, and the ability to deliver high-quality design packages that meet client, statutory, and insurance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop sprinkler system designs compliant with EN 12845, BS 9251, and LPC 1048.
- Carry out hydraulic calculations and prepare fully coordinated design drawings.
- Use recognised sprinkler design software for system modelling.
- Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to integrate sprinkler layouts effectively.
- Produce comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, calculations, BoQs, and schedules.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and approval bodies (LPCB, FIRAS, insurers, fire authorities).
- Provide technical support to project delivery teams during installation and commissioning.
- Keep up to date with changes in standards, codes of practice, and industry regulations.
- Contribute to design reviews, QA processes, and continuous improvement within the team.
Required Skills
- Essential:
- Proven experience in sprinkler system design across residential, commercial, or industrial sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of EN 12845, BS 9251, and LPC 1048.
- Proficiency with sprinkler design and hydraulic calculation software.
- Ability to interpret and coordinate with architectural and engineering drawings.
- CAD competency (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving and technical reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and client-facing ability.
- Desirable:
- LPCB / FIRAS accreditation or progress towards design competency certification.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and 3D modelling.
- Experience with other fire protection systems (e.g., water mist, foam).
- Membership of relevant industry bodies (IFE, BAFSA).
Working hours are 08:30 to 17:00 with a 45 minute lunch break. Salary will be discussed at interview stage.
