We are seeking an experienced Gas Suppression Service Engineer / Room Integrity Tester to join our growing team. This role will involve working across a variety of sites including data centers and commercial premises. You will be responsible for servicing and fault-finding on gas suppression systems, as well as carrying out room integrity testing (door fan tests) and associated small remedial works. This role will include but not be limited to the items below:

  • Carry out maintenance of gas suppression systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, IG systems)
  • Perform Room Integrity Testing (RIT) using Retrotec
  • Analyse RIT results and provide recommendations for sealing works and PRV sizing
  • Conduct full cause & effect testing of fire alarm and suppression systems (including shutdowns, interfaces, and outputs)
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on fire alarm control panels and suppression systems
  • Verify correct operation of detection systems, release mechanisms and interface signals
  • Inspect and assess pressure relief vent (PRV) performance (positive & negative pressure requirements)
  • Produce detailed service reports, test results, and compliance documentation
  • Liaise with clients on-site to explain system performance, failures, and remedial actions
  • Support installation and upgrade work where required
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with relevant British Standards and industry best practice
  • Work safely in a variety of environments

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of gas suppression systems (e.g. FM-200, Novec 1230, IG55/IG541)
  • Experience with room integrity testing (door fan testing using Retrotec)
  • Ability to understand RIT results (leakage, hold time, PRV sizing requirements)
  • Understanding of cause & effect operation for fire alarm and suppression systems
  • Fault finding on fire alarm panels and suppression control panels
  • Knowledge of pressure relief vent (PRV) requirements (positive & negative pressure)
  • Basic electrical fault-finding (voltages, circuits, inputs/outputs)
  • A good understanding of the Standards which relate to our Industry and the systems we install is required
  • Excellent customer relations are a must as the role will often include the individual being in a customer facing environment
  • Good communication skills are required as most of the role will involve being on the telephone with customers and staff within the business, e.g. engineers, admin, sales and management teams
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety will be an advantage although not a necessity
  • A willingness to travel to locations across the country

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of aerosol systems
  • Familiarity with Retrotec equipment and reporting software
  • FIA units or relevant fire qualifications

Working hours are 08:30 to 17:00 with a 30 minute lunch break. Salary will be discussed at interview stage.
