Join our Customs & Excise team and play a key role in keeping our international shipments moving compliantly and efficiently.
You'll be responsible for preparing and managing customs and origin documentation, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate, timely and compliant import and export activity.

- Prepare, review and manage customs, origin and shipment documentation to support compliant import and export activities and ensure records are accurate, complete and audit-ready.
- Coordinate with internal teams, customs agents, freight forwarders and external partners to support customs declarations, freight movements and the timely resolution of shipment queries or discrepancies.
- Monitor shipments and documentation processes, identifying and escalating customs, excise and compliance risks where appropriate.
- Support HMRC requests, audits and compliance checks while maintaining adherence to customs, excise and trade regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance compliance, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Provide administrative and operational support for Customs & Excise activities, projects and freight operations.
- Your Talent And Skills
To be successful in this role, you will have a good working knowledge of, or a willingness to develop expertise in, customs, excise, freight, logistics, and import/export documentation processes.
You will understand customs and origin documentation requirements, including EUR1 certificates, certificates of origin, commercial invoices, packing lists, and supporting shipment paperwork.
With a strong attention to detail, you will be able to identify incomplete, inconsistent, or inaccurate documentation and manage competing priorities while working accurately to shipment and documentation deadlines.
You will be a confident communicator, capable of building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, freight forwarders, customs agents, and external partners.
Strong organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to maintain accurate records in line with internal controls and audit requirements.
You will be comfortable working with shipment data, business systems, and documentation workflows, and able to recognise and appropriately escalating customs, excise, or documentation risks.
Previous experience within customs, excise, freight, logistics, or supply chain environments would be advantageous, while experience in the spirits, drinks, or bonded goods sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
Knowledge of excise goods movement within warehousing and an understanding of HMRC's Customs Declaration Service would also be desirable.
This role operates within a Known Consignor environment, meaning that the successful candidate will be subject to more thorough background and security checks as part of the onboarding process.
