Embrace Excellence
This role is part of a team of 10 process operators, responsible for operations at The Macallan Distillery and effluent treatment plant. The purpose is to optimise distillery operations to obtain the highest quality of spirit whilst maximising yield and efficiency, ensuring the required performance of the effluent treatment plant is met, along with maintaining high health and safety standards together as a team. This is a 9 month fixed term contract. This role works a rotational shift pattern 40 hours per week.
Make an Impact
- Safely and effectively monitor the operation of the process and conditions of the distillery and effluent treatment plant
- Operate, maintain and effectively manage all equipment and instrumentation associated with the distillery and effluent treatment plant
- Facilitate transfer of incoming and outgoing goods and byproducts in a safe and professional manner
- Mill malt as required to maximise mash quality and efficiency
- Ensure successful fermentations of the desired quality
- Optimise distillation to obtain the highest quality of spirit and yield
- Monitor boilers and steam delivery, in order to maintain efficient boiler performance
- Make adjustments to controls e.g. with the Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit and the Aerobic Membrane Bio-reactor, to ensure optimum water treatment and compliance
- Arrange and manage sludge removals
- Update and maintain production logs and compliance documentation
- Ensure all areas, including plant, are kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition ensuring all defects and potential hazards in the plant are reported
- Maintain and improve standards of health and safety, quality and good housekeeping and report any defects promptly
Your Talent and Skills
To be successful in this role you have experience in Production, ideally within the Whisky industry, and a proven track record of solving problems and exploring how things work, while continually generating new ideas to enhance safety, quality, service, and overall performance. You are IT literate, environmentally aware, and knowledgeable about HMRC requirements. Strong organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively engage and interact with others, and you demonstrate clear, confident communication skills.
