The Inspection Engineer is responsible for delivering the inspection programme, reporting, and recording of all plant and equipment within hazardous areas across distillation, spirit processing, and maturation facilities, in accordance with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) requirements. The role focuses on ensuring the integrity, compliance, and safe operation of safety‑critical equipment associated with flammable spirits and vapours. This includes primary containment systems (e.g. stills, pipework, tanks), cask racking structures within bonded warehouses, control, prevention and mitigation systems, and electrical, control, and instrumentation assets used in hazardous areas. The Inspection Engineer plays a key role in preventing loss of containment, reducing fire and explosion risks, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all whisky production, storage, and handling operations.

Key accountabilities:

  • Deliver safe, compliant inspections in line with DSEAR and COMAH
  • Maintain integrity and reliability of safety‑critical assets
  • Support the prevention of major accident hazards through effective inspection and reporting

Your Talent and Skills:

  • HNC/HND in Engineering (Electrical bias, Mechanical, Materials, or related discipline)
  • Compex 1 to 4, mechanical and dust.
  • Experience in inspection, maintenance, or asset integrity
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and safety requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
  • Effective communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams

This role may involve working at height, in confined spaces, and in environments with potential hazards.
