Big Brother Watch is a UK civil liberties campaign group fighting for a free future. Determined to reclaim our privacy and defend freedoms at this time of enormous technological change. This position is for an Advocacy Manager to lead campaigns that protect civil liberties, with a focus on privacy and freedom of expression.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advocacy campaigns to protect civil liberties, especially privacy and freedom of expression.
  • Deliver impactful change through campaign strategy, messaging, and action.
  • Manage people and projects in a campaigns environment that relies on civil liberties, surveillance or technology issues.
  • Develop and ground campaign strategies in human rights and liberal principles.
  • Work on a non-partisan, cross-party basis and engage with Parliament to maximise political impact.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience working in a campaigns capacity.
  • Experience managing people and projects in a relevant environment.
  • Demonstrable passion for protecting civil liberties and interest in privacy and technology issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of British politics and UK parliamentary procedures, with a strong network of Westminster contacts.
  • Experience campaigning for change in Parliament to maximise political impact.
