Since its founding in 2023, ControlAI has influenced policy in the UK, EU, and US through legislative drafting, public campaigns, media outreach, and coalition-building. Its mission is to mitigate extinction-level risks posed by AI technologies.

The role

You’ll lead engagement with UK parliamentarians on AI safety and superintelligence governance. Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll shape strategy, brief officials, and drive concrete policy action to reduce AI-related risks.

You’ll need to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Public Policy or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in parliament, civil service, a think tank or public affairs
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal and visual formats
  • Drive, adaptability, and a self-starting mindset
  • Knowledge of AI safety or willingness to learn fast

What you’ll be doing:

  • Brief parliamentarians and civil servants on AI safety policy
  • Grow political support for AI risk mitigation
  • Track and report on policy engagement progress
  • Design and iterate messaging and campaigns with a results-driven mindset
