We are seeking an experienced Dual Fire Risk Assessor & Health and Safety Advisor to deliver complex and high-risk fire risk assessments and general health & safety risk assessments across a wide range of premises, including Higher-Risk Residential Buildings (HRBs). This senior role requires advanced professional judgement and strong consultancy skills, supporting Responsible Persons, Accountable Persons and duty holders in meeting UK fire safety and health & safety legislation. The role operates in line with BAFE SP205, BS 9792, relevant British Standards and best-practice guidance.
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
Location: Nationwide ¦ Flexible base ¦ UK-wide travel required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver complex and high-risk Fire Risk Assessments, including HRBs.
- Carry out general Health & Safety Risk Assessments across multiple sectors.
- Provide specialist fire safety consultancy advice on fire strategy intent, means of escape, evacuation strategies and management arrangements (within competence).
- Interpret and apply UK legislation, British Standards, Approved Documents and recognised guidance.
- Produce clear, defensible and auditable reports with prioritised action plans.
- Provide professional advice to clients and liaise with key stakeholders, including Fire & Rescue Services.
- Support internal quality assurance and compliance with BAFE SP205 requirements.
- Maintain CPD, NFRAR registration and technical competence; provide mentoring where required.
Essential Competence & Experience:
- Advanced competence in fire risk assessment and fire safety consultancy.
- Registered on NFRAR at Advanced Fire Risk Assessor / Fire Safety Consultant level (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, including:
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Fire Safety Act 2021
- Building Safety Act 2022
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Recognised fire safety qualifications.
- Health & safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent).
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. IFSM, IOSH).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide (including occasional overnight stays).
