What you will do

The Deputy Country Manager for the United Kingdom supports the definition and execution of EDP’s strategic growth initiatives in the region.

Working closely with senior management, the role contributes to the identification and development of business opportunities, both organic and through mergers and acquisitions, while ensuring the successful execution of the development pipeline.

The position requires strong operational leadership, market understanding, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage key stakeholders, and drive performance across projects.

The Deputy Country Manager plays a key role in ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, local expertise and continuity of leadership within the UK business.

  • Support the implementation of EDP’s business strategy in the United Kingdom, ensuring alignment with regional and global objectives.
  • Identify and assess strategic opportunities (greenfield, brownfield, and M&A), contributing to market analysis and feasibility assessments to support growth.
  • Oversee specific parts of the development pipeline, managing early-stage project development, including permitting, land acquisition, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, authorities, landowners, partners, and industry organizations, supporting the Country Manager in stakeholder management.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams and ensure effective collaboration between local project teams and corporate departments (e. g., legal, engineering, finance, ESG).
  • Ensure compliance with national regulations and EDP’s internal governance, sustainability, and safety standards across projects.
  • Represent EDP in selected public forums, industry events and stakeholder meetings, reinforcing the company’s position in the UK energy sector.
  • Drive operational efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives in regional activities.
  • Monitor project and operational performance, risks, and budgets, proposing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Act as delegate to the Country Manager when required, ensuring continuity in decision‑making and leadership.

  • What are we looking for
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 8–10 years of experience in the UK energy sector, with exposure to business development and project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in renewable energy or infrastructure project development.
  • Solid understanding of UK energy market dynamics, permitting processes, and stakeholder landscape.
  • Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, complex, and evolving environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
