EDP is a leading multidisciplinary consultancy providing expert risk management, compliance, and technical services across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Principal Asbestos Consultant to take a senior role within our Midlands operations, supporting both regional delivery and national client frameworks. This is a varied and influential position, combining technical expertise, leadership, client engagement, and commercial responsibility. You will work within UKAS-accredited systems, supporting public and private sector clients while helping to develop people, processes, and performance.
Salary: £43,000 – £46,000 + overtime, travel & subsistence
Location: Midlands & surrounding areas
Contract: Full-time, permanent
The Role
As a Principal Asbestos Consultant, you will act as a technical and operational lead, supporting the delivery of asbestos consultancy services across a range of contracts and projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting regional teams to ensure quality, compliance, and safe delivery
- Managing and overseeing client contracts, maintaining strong working relationships
- Delivering and overseeing complex asbestos projects from quotation through to completion
- Providing high-level technical consultancy and report authorisation
- Supporting financial performance, forecasting, and invoicing
- Line managing, mentoring, and developing team members
- Supporting quality assurance activities and advising clients on regulatory requirements
About You
You’ll be an experienced, service-driven asbestos professional with strong technical credibility and the confidence to lead people, projects, and client relationships.
Essential Requirements
- P402, P403 & P404 (or equivalent)
- W/M504 / P405
- Minimum of 10 years' experience within UKAS-accredited organisations
- Experience managing large, complex frameworks and standalone projects
- Strong consultancy and client-facing capability
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office and relevant digital tools
- Full manual UK driving licence
Desirable
- CoCA qualification or working towards it
Working Arrangements
This role requires flexibility, including travel across the Midlands and surrounding areas, with occasional weekend or out-of-hours work to meet client needs. Approved overtime paid. Travel and subsistence expenses covered.
