Role Description The Van Driver is responsible for safely collecting, loading, and delivering electrical products from the Oxford branch to customer sites, premises, and other locations in a timely and professional manner. Day-to-day tasks include planning delivery routes, checking and handling goods, completing delivery documentation, and maintaining clear communication with the branch team and customers. The role also involves supporting warehouse operations when needed, such as assisting with stock movements, order picking, and ensuring vehicles are kept clean, roadworthy, and compliant with company policies. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Oxford, with the primary duties performed on-site and some administrative or scheduling tasks carried out from home where appropriate. The Van Driver is expected to provide courteous service, represent the company positively, and follow all safety and traffic regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence with a safe driving record and confidence in driving vans for local and regional deliveries.
- Strong time management and route planning abilities, with attention to punctuality and meeting delivery schedules.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to read delivery notes, check orders, and complete simple documentation accurately.
- Good communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Ability to handle and move goods safely, including manual handling of electrical products within health and safety guidelines.
- Reliability, integrity, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a branch and warehouse environment.
- Comfort with hybrid working, using phone or basic digital tools (e.g., email, navigation apps) to manage delivery information.
- Previous experience in delivery driving, logistics, or wholesale/retail environments is beneficial but not essential.
- Willingness to learn about electrical products and company procedures through on-the-job training and guidance.
