Based in Manchester, we are currently recruiting for Engineering Apprenticeships in our Mechanical and Electrical Departments. We have a wide variety of prestigious clients on some of the most exciting Military and Civil aviation training engineering projects around the world and these roles are instrumental in developing the future of our business.
This is a brilliant opportunity to commence a lifelong career in engineering. This 4 year apprenticeship programme will involve working as part of the highly skilled Engineering Team within EDM Ltd, where you will develop a good general knowledge of all the site activities and perform all assigned work quickly, economically and to company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Gain skills in the use of appropriate measuring equipment and be able to interpret and accurately measure.
- Gain knowledge and skill in the setup, guarding and use of appropriate machinery required to undertake manufacture.
- Work towards the ability to interpret engineering technical drawings.
- Developing the skills to construct or modify equipment from verbal instructions and drawings to a high degree of precision.
- To be able to demonstrate the skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increase overall contribution to the business.
- Maintain thorough records and documentation of a training/education/skills progress.
Key Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs at minimum grade 4/C including Maths and English
- Able to demonstrate a clear passion for Engineering
- Great attention to detail
- Good time management skills
- Ability to analyse problems and suggest improvements or solutions
- Demonstrates a self‑motivated and proactive approach to work and studies
- Ability to demonstrate good team working skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to achieve UK security clearance is essential
- Flexibility to travel within the UK and abroad
