About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to lead bids from early opportunity stage through to tender submission and contract award. This key pre-construction role focuses on delivering winning, commercially robust submissions while protecting margin and managing risk. The role includes coordinating all bid activity, working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants, and the supply chain to produce high-quality, competitive tenders. This role is well-suited to a Senior Estimator, Design Manager, or Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong pre‑construction experience who wishes to step into a broader bid leadership position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage bids from feasibility stage through to tender submission and award
- Prepare tender pricing, submissions, and supporting documentation
- Develop bid strategies, capture plans, and tender responses
- Coordinate all tender information, correspondence, and deliverables
- Lead bid reviews, including risk and opportunity sessions
- Produce cost advice, cash flow forecasts, and cost/value analysis
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Liaise with supply chain and assess tender returns
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and suppliers
- Ensure compliance with CDM and health & safety requirements
- Support handover to operational teams on successful bids
About You
- Construction-related qualification and relevant industry experience
- Background as a Senior Estimator, Design Manager, or Senior Quantity Surveyor (or similar)
- Strong experience in pre‑construction or bid management
- Commercially aware with strong risk management skills
- Confident communicator and strong bid writer
- Knowledge of procurement processes (including public sector frameworks desirable)
- Strong numerical, IT, and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast‑paced bid environments
