Edison Pace School is a highly specialist, independent provision supporting children and young people aged 7–16 with complex needs including SEMH, Autism, ADHD and associated learning difficulties. Every young person who joins us has a story. We are looking for a passionate, reflective and creative SEND Teacher who believes in relationships before results and understands the power of being the right adult at the right time.
This is not a traditional classroom role. With small class sizes (maximum 6), high staff ratios and a trauma‐informed approach, you'll have the time and support to teach with purpose, autonomy and heart.
About the Role
- Deliver engaging, adaptive lessons across KS3–KS5
- Plan creatively to meet a wide range of learning, communication and emotional needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education
- Use therapeutic and trauma‐informed approaches to behaviour and learning
- Contribute to personalised learning pathways linked to EHCP outcomes
- Work collaboratively within a skilled multidisciplinary team
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
- Experience working with children and young people with SEND (specialist or mainstream backgrounds welcome)
- A reflective, resilient and solution‐focused mindset
- An understanding that behaviour is communication
- Creativity, flexibility and a willingness to think differently
- A strong belief in dignity, high expectations and unconditional positive regard
Desirable:
- Training in therapeutic or trauma‐informed approaches (e.g. THRIVE, PACE, Team Teach)
- Knowledge of EHCP processes and the SEND Code of Practice
