About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionateFamily Practitioner to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in supporting children, young people, and their families to achieve positive outcomes.
This is a rewarding and varied role working with families facing a wide range of complex challenges, including those involved in Child Protection and Child in Need processes, as well as adoptive families, fostering households, children's homes, kinship carers, blended families, and parents navigating significant behavioural, emotional, and relational difficulties as well as children with complex trauma.
You will provide both 1:1 therapeutic and practical support to parents and carers, alongside delivering engaging and impactful parenting workshops, group programmes, and family interventions. You will be working with our MDT including a range of therapists, Inclusion Lead, and SENDCo.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience of working with vulnerable and complex families and be confident in building trust, providing challenge where appropriate, and delivering evidence-based strategies that empower families to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one support, coaching, and therapeutic interventions for parents and carers.
- Design and facilitate parenting workshops and family programmes.
- Support families experiencing complex social, emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges.
- Work with Child Protection, Child in Need, looked after, adopted, foster, and kinship families.
- Provide guidance and practical strategies around parenting, attachment, trauma, neurodiversity, behaviour management, emotional regulation, and family relationships.
- Conduct family assessments and develop tailored support plans.
- Liaise with schools, social care teams, local authorities, therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports where required.
- Promote resilience, stability, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
About You

You will have:
- Significant experience working directly with complex and vulnerable families.
- A strong understanding of Child Protection and Child in Need frameworks and can support families. This is not a DSL role but the role focussed on the family support through these frameworks.
- Experience supporting adoptive, foster, kinship, and blended families.
- Knowledge of attachment, developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and therapeutic parenting approaches.
- Experience delivering parenting programmes, workshops, or training sessions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
- A relevant professional qualification in social work, counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, family support, education, youth work, or a related discipline.
- Therapeutic or counselling accreditation.
- Experience supporting families affected by neurodiversity, trauma, or adverse childhood experiences.
- Training in therapeutic parenting, attachment-based approaches, solution-focused practice, or restorative approaches.
- Experience working with residential children's homes and fostering services
