About the role
A robotics technology company is looking for an experienced Robotics Software Engineer to join their core robotics software team on an initial 3-month contract.
The company builds robotics embedded software. Their robotics software team currently consists of a few engineers, supported by additional staff focused on testing and validation. They have a substantial backlog of work and need someone who can get up to speed with the existing codebase quickly and start contributing without significant hand-holding.
This is not a junior role, but equally they're not looking for a 20-year veteran. The right person has a few years of relevant, hands-on robotics software experience and has worked on similar problems before.
What you'll be doing
- Working within an existing production robotics codebase, contributing to features and fixes
- Helping clear a significant backlog of engineering work
- Testing, debugging and supporting CI processes
- Working on software that interacts directly with physical hardware
What we're looking for
- Solid robotics software engineering experience
- Strong Python
- C++ experience is beneficial
- Comfortable working in Linux environments
- Experience with Docker/containers
- Initial 3-month contract, with the wider team expected to continue growing
- Location flexible: hybrid or fully remote considered, though some in-person time is preferred
