Edinburgh Trams is the multi‑award winning operator of the city’s tramway and invites applicants to join our team as an Operational Controller.
About the Role
This shift‑based role requires a roster of early, late, and night shifts across 7 days a week and 365 days a year. You will primarily work in the Operations Control Centre at Gogar Depot but will also be deployed in a Mobile Control vehicle. Your responsibilities include:
- Overseeing day‑to‑day control of the Edinburgh Trams network, utilising SCADA and VICOS to deliver a safe, efficient, and reliable service.
- Monitoring and responding to situations that could cause service disruption.
- Acting as a first responder in emergency situations.
- Performing additional tasks on spare duty, including occasional tram driving, following relevant training.
About You
- Control Room experience is highly desirable but not essential.
- Ability to cope with competing demands when under pressure in a busy and ever‑changing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
- Full UK driver’s licence (car) held for a minimum of one year, with no more than three penalty points; proof required.
- Desire to work safely, be flexible, and deliver customer service excellence.
- Willingness to support large‑scale events such as Rugby and Edinburgh’s Festive events.
