Bring your expertise to a university that’s shaping the future of technology and education. At Edinburgh Napier University, technology is at the heart of how we transform learning, research, and innovation. Our Information Services team delivers the digital foundation that enables our community to thrive — from pioneering teaching technologies to powerful research infrastructure.

We’re now looking for a Senior Developer to help us take the next step in our digital journey — shaping data integration solutions that connect our systems, empower our people, and strengthen our capabilities across the University.

The Role

As part of our Information Systems Development team, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing innovative data integration solutions. You’ll help us evolve from on-premises technologies to a modern, cloud-based integration architecture — driving the development of scalable, secure, and high-performing systems that make a real impact on how the University works. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the University, you’ll translate business needs into smart, reliable technology solutions, taking your team on the same journey with you. You’ll lead by example — bringing both technical depth and a creative, problem-solving mindset to every project. This role offers the chance to influence how data flows across our entire digital ecosystem, contributing directly to strategic initiatives in learning, research, and internationalisation.

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be a skilled developer or software engineer with a passion for data integration, architecture, and cloud technologies. You’ll bring hands‑on experience with tools such as Microsoft Azure, MS Fabric, Data Factory, Logic Apps, and Function Apps, as well as proficiency in Python, Java, or .NET. You understand what makes data reliable, secure, and useful — and you know how to make complex systems talk to each other. You’ll thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy working on diverse projects, and take pride in building solutions that make a difference. Experience with ETL/ELT tools, data lake or data mesh architectures, or automation for data integration would be a real plus.

Additional Information

We will be reviewing and speaking to candidates on a rolling basis. Therefore, you are requested to apply with a complete application as soon as possible.

Benefits

  • Minimum of 41 days annual leave (including 10 fixed holidays at Easter and Christmas) and the option to purchase additional annual leave
  • Generous employer pension contributions 17.6%
  • A wide range of learning and development opportunities
  • Opportunity to join our staff inclusion and support networks
  • Access to our benefits platform Vivup which includes huge range of discounts across the UK’s major retailers, health care discounts and Cycle to Work
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme

The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. This will depend on several factors specific to the successful applicant.
