Senior Change Manager β 12 months, Fixed term, Full time
Help Shape the Future of Tertiary Education in Scotland
Edinburgh Napier University is seeking an experienced and engaging Senior Change Manager to lead the culture, communications and engagement workstream for the Scottish Tertiary Alliance Framework.
About the Role
Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the partner institutions, you will lead engagement and communications activity that ensures colleagues, students and trade unions are actively involved throughout the programme.
Through meaningful consultation, collaboration and communication, you will help build understanding, trust and confidence in the Scottish Tertiary Alliance Framework, promoting its vision as a strategic partnership that delivers shared opportunities and benefits across the tertiary education sector, rather than a merger of institutions.
Leading a programme-wide communications and engagement activity, you will ensure consistent messaging and meaningful stakeholder involvement across the Alliance. Through workshops, listening exercises and engagement activities, you will gather and translate insights into recommendations that inform programme decision-making and strategic direction. Developing measures and evaluation frameworks to evidence impact, you will proactively manage engagement and change-related risks and oversee the culture and engagement budget to support successful programme delivery.
Additionally, providing leadership, coaching and development to a team of three Institutional Change Managers, you will foster a collaborative and effective approach to engagement across all partner institutions.
This role will require 3 days a week on campus.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced change professional with a degree-level qualification, or equivalent experience, in organisational development, communications, HR or a related discipline.
You will bring:
- Proven track record of designing and delivering culture, engagement or change programmes within complex, multi-site or multi-organisational environments, together with experience of leading, coaching and developing teams.
- Demonstrating strong budget management skills, sound judgement in handling sensitive stakeholder, communications and reputational matters, and experience of working collaboratively with trade unions and staff or student representative bodies.
- Excellent facilitation, communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, alongside the ability to build credibility, influence and trusted relationships at all levels, including senior leadership teams.
A professional qualification in change management, organisational development or a related field would be advantageous, as would experience within higher or further education, the wider public sector, or in supporting large-scale transformation, collaboration or organisational change programmes.
We offer 41 days annual leave (includes bank holidays), a generous pension scheme (17.6%), flexible working and professional development opportunities.
Additional Information:
This post is funded until August 2028 and is currently offered on a 12 month fixed-term basis. Continuation beyond this date will be subject to ongoing funding.
On this occasion, the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship or visa support for this role. International applicants will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
