Role Overview

In our School of Health and Social Care we are undertaking a project in partnership with the Royal College of Nursing Foundation and we need a part‑time Research Assistant for 6 months to conduct interviews, focus groups and data analysis.

Responsibilities

As Research Assistant you will prepare, set up and conduct interviews and focus groups with individuals with learning disabilities, their families, carers and service providers. You will gather data to understand the challenges they face in navigating health and social care environments and to identify the needs of staff providing education to this population. Your research work will inform interventions that improve health equity and quality of life for people with learning disabilities in Scotland.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience of carrying out research using evidence‑informed approaches
• Expertise in one or more relevant research methodologies (surveys, oral histories, participatory action research, mixed methods, etc.)
• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities
• Demonstrable interest in equity, social justice and/or trauma‑informed practice
• Up‑to‑date PVG Certificate (application will be made upon appointment)

Additional Information

• Salary: £31,236 – £37,694 per annum (depending on experience)
• Contract: Fixed‑Term – 6 months
• Hours: 14 hours/wk
• Interviews: Week commencing 12th January 2026
