At Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Health and Social Care, our research staff’s expertise is well established within public health, education, leadership in compassionate care and enduring conditions, and is growing within areas such as mental health, early years and maternal care.
Currently, we are undertaking a project in support of our work with NHS Scotland and have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to join us on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 9 weeks, to undertake research duties and assist with data analysis.
The Role: As Research Assistant on this project, you will have the opportunity to use your research experience to support a systematic review and meta-analysis examining the effectiveness of digital/mobile lifestyle interventions for adults with, or at risk of, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Your understanding of research methods and/or evidence synthesis will allow you to undertake basic research (systematic review), for example by dual title/abstract and full text screening, data extraction, quality and risk of bias assessment, preparation of datasets for meta-analysis and producing tables, figures, and summary outputs. Your excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills will also come in handy as you plan your day-to-day research activity within the framework of the agreed project and contribute to the production of research reports and publications.
We anticipate that you will also have strong written communication and data handling skills, which will serve you well as you write up results of research, as part of a guided process and contribute to the production of research reports and publications. What we will need from you:
- Masters degree in public health, psychology, health sciences, epidemiology, digital health, or a closely related discipline
- Experience with research methods and/or evidence synthesis (e.g., honours project, MSc project, or equivalent)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and to deadlines
- Strong written communication and data handling skills

Contract: Fixed-Term – 9 weeks, Full Time - 35 hours/wk. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
