Maintenance Technician (Electrician core trade)

The Property & Facilities team at Edinburgh Napier University is dedicated to delivering an excellent service and experience for staff, students, and visitors across all of our campuses. We are hiring a Maintenance Technician to join us and help uphold the positive reputation we have gained by carrying out planned maintenance, reactive works and minor installations.

The Role

As Maintenance Technician, you will use your experience of managing electrical planned maintenance schedules to:

  • Carry out designated planned maintenance
  • Carry out alterations and improvements
  • Undertake project and reactive remedial works
  • Investigate and identify faults
  • Proactively assist in the development of the maintenance provision to further improve quality

The role offers a day-shift working pattern exclusively, providing stability and a good work-life balance.

We focus on creating a positive team environment with good camaraderie and a collaborative way of working, ensuring campuses are maintained to a high standard.

We offer annual pay reviews in line with cost of living, 41 days of paid annual leave, and an excellent pension with high employer contribution.

What we will need from you

  • Completed recognised apprenticeship, NVQ or City and Guilds Qualification
  • Qualified to 17th Edition IEE regulations (18th Edition desirable)
  • Good overall electrical knowledge with experience of electrical planned maintenance schedules
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic techniques
  • Good team player with the ability to work on initiative when required

Benefits

Salary: Starting salary – £31,236 – £33,951 per annum (depending on experience, subject to annual pay increases)

We offer a pension with employer contributions of 17.6%, a minimum of 41 days holiday, annual pay reviews, and professional development opportunities. There are discounted onsite facilities and a wide range of staff discounts.
