The Property & Facilities team at Edinburgh Napier University is dedicated to delivering an excellent service and experience for staff, students, and visitors across all of our campuses.

We pride ourselves in our work ethic and all of our staff are experts in their trade, ensuring that the maintenance and improvement of building and grounds conditions are of a high standard at all times.

As part of this ongoing initiative, we are currently hiring a Maintenance Technician (Electrician core trade) to join us and help uphold the positive reputation we have gained by carrying out planned maintenance, reactive works and minor installations.

The Role:

As Maintenance Technician, you will be in a strong position to use your experience of managing electrical planned maintenance schedules to:

-Carry out designated planned maintenance

-Carry out alterations and improvements

-Undertake project and reactive remedial works

-Investigate and identify faults

-Proactively assist in the development of the maintenance provision to further improve quality

The role offers a day-shift working pattern exclusively, so if you are used to working irregular shift patterns, then this post will provide you with stability and excellent work-life balance.

As well as this, we focus on creating a positive team environment, with good camaraderie and a collaborative way of working, with each team member working towards the common goal of ensuring our campuses are properly maintained to high level.

We also offer annual pay reviews in line with cost of living, 41 days of paid annual leave, and an excellent pension with high employer contribution.

For us to consider your application, you will need to be time served, qualified to 17th Edition, have a proven track record of managing electrical planned maintenance schedules and be a good team player.

What we will need from you:

-Completed recognised apprenticeship, NVQ or City and Guilds Qualification

-Qualified to 17th Edition IEE regulations(18th Edition desirable only)

-Good overall electrical knowledge with experience of electrical planned maintenance schedules

-Excellent fault finding and diagnostic technique

-Good team player with the ability to work on initiative when required

Additional information:

Salary: Starting salary – £31,236 – £33,951 per annum (depending on experience, subject to annual pay increases until top of salary scale reached as well as cost of living increases)
