The School of Applied Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University is seeking to appoint a Clinical Exercise Physiology University Tutor to join our growing academic team at our Sighthill Campus. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Exercise Physiologist with a passion for education and professional practice to play a key role in developing the next generation of practitioners.
Our Clinical Exercise Physiology provision equips students with the knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours required to work across a range of healthcare, rehabilitation and exercise settings. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual who can bring current professional expertise into the classroom and support students throughout their learning journey.
The Role
As a Clinical Exercise Physiology University Tutor, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, student-centred teaching and learning activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Underpinned by professional practice and academic scholarship, you will support students to develop practical clinical skills, critical thinking and professional competencies relevant to contemporary clinical exercise physiology practice.
You will deliver teaching across a variety of settings, including practical laboratory sessions, tutorials, workshops and lectures. The role also involves supervising and assessing student work, providing constructive feedback, supporting student development as a Personal Development Tutor, and contributing to curriculum enhancement activities.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the School, you will help ensure an engaging and supportive learning environment while promoting excellence in teaching, professional practice and student success.
What We Will Need From You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Registration with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist.
- Significant professional or industry experience within Clinical Exercise Physiology or a closely related field.
- A demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development.
- Experience of assessing student work and providing constructive feedback.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary academic team.
Desirable attributes include:
- A PhD (or currently working towards one) in a relevant discipline.
- A teaching qualification such as a PGCert in Higher Education.
- HEA Fellowship or a commitment to achieving Fellowship within two years of appointment.
Additional Information:
Salary: Grade 5 £43,482 per annum
Location: Sighthill Campus, Edinburgh
Contract: 23 months fixed term , Full Time
