Shape the future of digital construction and skills innovation. We’re delighted to be working in partnership with BE‑ST (Built Environment – Smarter Transformation) to recruit an Impact Manager with a strong technical and digital focus to support the next phase of transformation across the built environment. This is a unique opportunity for someone with hands‑on digital/BIM expertise and a technical built environment background to help drive innovation, support industry skills development, and influence how modern methods of construction evolve.
The Role
This role sits at the intersection of digital construction, manufacturing innovation, and skills development. You’ll play a key role in supporting businesses and partners to adopt digital tools, BIM processes, and modern methods of construction, while also contributing to the development of skills across the sector. The Impact Manager will play a central role in advancing digital construction and manufacturing innovation across the built environment, with a particular focus on the practical application of BIM and modern methods of construction. Working closely with industry partners, you will support the adoption of digital tools and processes, particularly within off‑site manufacturing and timber‑based systems, helping organisations translate strategy into real‑world delivery. A key aspect of the role involves designing and delivering engaging training, workshops, and knowledge‑sharing activities to build capability and confidence across the sector. You will also contribute to collaborative projects, providing technical expertise, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that innovation is effectively embedded into practice.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a technically strong and engaging professional with a rare blend of digital expertise and industry experience. You’ll bring:
- Strong experience in digital construction and BIM (Building Information Modelling)
- A background in the built environment, ideally as an Architectural Technologist/Technician or similar
- Experience working with or within off‑site manufacturing, timber construction, or MMC environments
- Confidence in teaching, presenting, or facilitating learning for a range of audiences
- The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical insights
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across multi‑disciplinary environments
We recognise that this is a highly specialised skill set, and while we’re looking for strong alignment, we also welcome candidates who bring complementary experience and the potential to grow in the role.
What’s in it for you?
Salary: £46,049 - £58,225 per annum (depending on experience). We are committed to providing a wide range of benefits including:
- Minimum of 41 days annual leave and the option to purchase additional annual leave
- Employer pension contributions of 17.6%
- A wide range of learning and development opportunities
- Opportunity to join our staff inclusion and support networks
- Access to our benefits platform Vivup which includes a huge range of discounts across the UK’s major retailers, health care discounts and Cycle to Work
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
We’re currently operating a hybrid working model. Due to the nature of the role, some travel may be required within Scotland and occasionally within the UK and internationally, but the role is primarily based at our BE‑ST campus in Hamilton.
Closing date: 19th of July. Interview date: Week of 3rd of August, face to face at BE‑ST. On this occasion, the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship or visa support for this role. International applicants will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
