Astute's Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise with the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for a Mechanical Technician to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Fife, Scotland.

The vital Mechanical Technician role comes with a salary of 46,660 + 2,500 call out allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc.
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
  • To ensure the availability of plant spares
  • Professional qualifications
  • Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
  • A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous
  • Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including, boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes etc

  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity
