We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV / Fleet Vehicle Technician to join our client's busy operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining fleet vehicles to the highest safety and compliance standards, ensuring maximum vehicle availability and operational reliability.
Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled four-weekly vehicle inspections in line with DVSA/VOSA compliance standards.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections, including servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise fleet downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, health & safety regulations, and legal compliance requirements.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide breakdown and emergency support when required.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records for fleet compliance and audit purposes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high workshop standards.
Salary & Benefits
- Starting salary: £21.00 per hour
- Increased to £22.00 per hour upon successful completion of probation period
- Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate
- Company vehicle provided for home use following successful probation completion
- On-call allowance of £140 per week during rota periods
- Additional call-out payments:
- First 6 hours paid at standard rate
- Hours exceeding 6 paid at overtime rate (1.5x)
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 08:00 hours paid at standard rate, 1-hour unpaid break, 1 additional hour paid at overtime rate
- Saturday: 07:00 paid at overtime rate (1.5x)
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in HGV, commercial vehicle, or fleet maintenance
- Strong understanding of DVSA/VOSA compliance standards
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Own tools required (diagnostic equipment provided by the company)
- HGV licence desirable; training can be provided for the right candidate
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn and undertake further technical training
