Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an experienced and motivated Fleet Mechanic to join our team in Grangemouth. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified HGV/PSV Mechanic looking for a varied, hands‑on role within a well‑established and growing business offering long‑term career development and specialist training opportunities.
The Role: As Fleet Mechanic, you will play a key role in maintaining the operational readiness, safety and reliability of our fleet and associated equipment. Working within the workshop and out on-site when required, you will carry out inspections, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a range of vehicles and specialist equipment to ensure the fleet remains fully compliant and operational. This role also offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills through training on vacuum equipment and other industry‑specific systems. Participation in an on‑call rota is required, with additional payment provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to maintain fleet roadworthiness and DVSA compliance
- Completing 6‑weekly inspections and fleet defect monitoring
- Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT inspections
- Diagnosing and repairing faults on HGVs, PSVs, vans, plant and associated equipment
- Responding to roadside and on‑site breakdowns when required
- Undertaking welding and fabrication work where necessary
- Maintaining workshop equipment, tools and stock levels
- Supporting the safe and efficient operation of specialist fleet equipment
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
- Providing guidance to employees on the safe use and care of vehicles and equipment
- Participating in the on‑call rota and occasional out‑of‑hours or Saturday working as required
- Attending training courses and maintaining up‑to‑date technical knowledge
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with company SHEQ standards and procedures
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Qualified HGV or PSV Mechanic
- Level 3 NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
- Time‑served mechanical experience
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to drive cars and car‑derived vans
- Strong understanding of vehicle roadworthiness and DVSA standards
- Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rota
- Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Self‑motivated with a proactive attitude
Desirable:
- LGV Class 1 licence
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience working on specialist industrial or vacuum equipment
