An established consulting engineering practice is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its structural engineering team in Edinburgh.
Candidates should hold a degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, have a strong interest in building structures, and possess several years of experience within UK consulting engineering.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking structural design for building projects.
- Developing and producing structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Reviewing architectural drawings and developing structural layouts.
- Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, and other members of the design team.
- Attending project meetings, design team meetings, and site inspections.
- Managing smaller projects, or discrete elements of larger projects, from initial enquiry through to completion.
- Assisting with inspections, structural reports, and statutory approval submissions.
- Working alongside graduate engineers and technicians.
- Contributing to technical delivery, quality assurance, and project administration.
Qualifications
Applicants should have
- A BEng or MEng in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
- Several years of experience in UK consulting engineering.
- A sound understanding of structural design principles and UK construction practices.
- Experience in the design of building structures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- The ability to liaise professionally with clients, architects, contractors, and colleagues.
Progress towards chartered status with a recognised professional engineering institution would be advantageous but is not essential.
