STEM Recruitment is seeking a Senior Synthetic Chemist for our client in Glasgow and Strathclyde, Scotland. The role involves conducting practical and theoretical synthetic organic chemistry work, focusing on enhancing existing procedures and developing new synthesis routes for biotech products.
The successful candidate will manage projects including process optimisation, scale-up, and custom synthesis, ensuring work is completed within schedule, budget, and specifications. You will support product development and continuous improvement initiatives, monitor reactions effectively, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Strong analytical skills in TLC, HPLC, LCMS, and NMR are essential, alongside project management experience and a proven track record in process and product development. A PhD or equivalent in Chemistry, with industrial experience or relevant postdoc experience in batch manufacture from knowledge of organic synthesis, purification techniques, and analytical methods is required.
Project management and process improvement experience, as well as the ability to work in a quality-led laboratory environment and on custom synthesis projects, are also necessary.
