About the role
The successful candidate will work within Business Analytics to create fast time simulations for project stakeholders to capture insights and drive decisions as Edinburgh Airport goes through a phase of transformation. Using data and working closely with analysts, capacity managers and project managers – you’ll apply your simulation skills to visualise upcoming expansions across the airport and airfield. You’ll work closely with operational performance leads and subject matter experts to deliver simulation across a multitude of capital projects.
You will have to build and deliver fast time simulation using AirTOP software and provide corresponding insights aligned to strict deadlines of the associated project. Your aim is to allow the decision makers to best visualise the concepts and analyses discussed in the project, positioning the business for excellent customer service and well-informed data led decision making. Your work will directly influence airport operations, capacity planning, and customer experience; making a measurable difference in how the airport will operate in the future.
About the Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for this role will be comprised of 3 stages. Candidates who are successful in the application sift will be sent a data analysis task to complete, and create a presentation on. Following the submission of this task, successful candidates will then be invited to a Teams interview with one of our Capacity Managers, and a member of the Business Analytics team, to present their findings. Successful candidates from the second round will then be invited to an in person interview, where they will meet a variety of stakeholders from across the business.

What you’ll be doing
- Collaborate with analysts and associated managers to build and deliver fast time simulation models
- Maintain simulation models, keeping them in a “ready-to-use” state to be able to quickly respond to business needs
- Translate simulation results into presentations, with clear and concise insights (both written and verbal)
- Source, identify, test, tidy, and optimise datasets for straightforward use within simulation software
- Form excellent working relationships with our simulation stakeholders, getting to know their bespoke needs with simulation outputs
- Assist Data Visualisation Manager on the roadmap of future simulation at Edinburgh Airport
- Ensure performance leads and business owners have access to the most accurate information.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis, establish KPIs, and provide descriptive analytics of past trends
- Support the Business Analytics team with ad-hoc and bespoke analysis.
- Support the analytical requirements of capital projects across the operation.

Credentials and Experience
- Desirable – Degree educated with a strong STEM focus such as Engineering, Mathematics, or Data Science
- Essential: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Essential: Experience in data science programming languages such as R, Python, SQL.
- Essential: Highly numeric with proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding and experience with fast-time simulation software (e.g CAST, AirTOP, or Open Source equivalents)
- Desirable – Airport industry background with understanding of IATA standards of building works and passenger experience
