Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operations Lead to oversee and enhance our Cricket Farm operational processes. We believe that the future of sustainable food production is farming crickets which are an extremely efficient protein source! This role is essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of our daily activities, with a focus on maintaining equipment, managing resources, and providing exceptional care for our Crickets. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of stem experience, attention to detail and thoughtfulness to take initiative and make suggestions. The person must be comfortable handling Crickets and doing manual tasks involving them. The role has room for growth as the farm scales over the next 6-12 months. Person must live within ~ 30-45 minute commute of the farm (NR117EL postcode) and have a means to get there (no car is provided).
Responsibilities
- Run daily operations and ensure adherence to processes and protocols.
- Monitor colony health and productivity
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage farm stock levels and order additional stock as needed.
- Manage heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently, ensuring proper techniques are used.
- Oversee animal care routines, ensuring the health and wellbeing of all animals under supervision.
Skills
- Some interest or experience in and of animal care, demonstrating compassion and responsibility towards animals.
- Familiarity with scientific principles
- Basic maths skills for inventory management and resource allocation.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
