Role

Join an innovative climate research institute dedicated to advancing understanding and application of climate risk assessments, developing methodologies and insights on decarbonisation and climate risk resilience. This role focuses on how engineering, science, and construction can enhance sustainability and resilience across the entire lifecycle of companies. You will identify, quantify, and assess the cost and effectiveness of strategies and technologies to drive decarbonisation and climate resilience across sectors including infrastructure, real estate, fashion, construction, and public works.

The insights and tools you develop will help customers in the financial sector quantify and understand climate-related risks and opportunities.

You will work in a collaborative environment, leveraging scientific research to deliver methodologies and outcomes that inform decision-making across industries.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze how technological innovations can drive decarbonisation across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and enhance resilience against risks like flooding, storms, and wildfires.
  • Develop methodologies for costing decarbonisation and resilience strategies, including lifecycle assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and financial modelling.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create tools and models for climate risk assessments addressing real-world challenges.
  • Engage with the financial sector and industry to align research with customer needs and regulations.
  • Publish research in scientific journals and participate in conferences and industry forums.
  • Stay informed on emerging climate policies, technological advancements, and market trends related to decarbonisation and resilience.

Requirements

  • A master\’s degree in climate science, civil/environmental engineering, economics, supply chain management, financial modelling, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in assessing, designing, and costing climate resilience strategies.
  • Proven ability to conduct interdisciplinary research and develop practical applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work with diverse teams. Good communication skills for presenting complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with the financial sector, climate disclosures, regulatory and voluntary sustainability frameworks, and market incentives is a plus.
