Edgingtons Architects are looking for an Architectural Technologist/Technician to join our Southampton studio. This exciting opportunity is for a full-time, office-based position supporting a wide variety of work across a broad range of sectors, including education, residential, commercial, community, heritage, justice, and defence projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing coordinated technical design information from concept through to construction, producing drawings, specifications, schedules, and BIM models, and contributing to planning, Building Regulations, and other statutory submissions. You will work closely with architects, directors, and external consultants, participating in design reviews, resolving technical and coordination matters, and maintaining accurate project records. Alongside this, you will also prepare and review construction details, respond to technical queries, support site-stage activities, and contribute to the practice’s high standards of design quality and client service. Role Requirements: • A recognised qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline, or demonstrable relevant experience, together with proof of entitlement to work in the UK. MCIAT or ACIAT status is preferred but not essential, and we will support suitable candidates in working towards CIAT accreditation and continued professional development. • Strong technical design and detailing skills, with the ability to develop accurate, coordinated information from concept through detailed design and construction stages. • Good working knowledge of Building Regulations, construction methods, materials, and relevant technical standards. • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design information and resolving technical interfaces with consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers. • Clear written and verbal communication skills and enthusiasm for working collaboratively in a studio environment. • Competence in Revit, or similar BIM/CAD platforms, together with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. • Strong attention to detail, the ability to manage time and priorities, and a willingness to develop technical knowledge and take increasing responsibility. Applicants should send their CV and a short portfolio or examples of relevant technical work to mail@edgingtons.co.uk and confirm that they are applying for the Southampton studio.
