About Edgewood

Edgewood is an independent development and commercial consultancy working with developers, investors, contractors and landowners across London and the South East. We specialise in development management, commercial management, project management, procurement strategy and development recovery, helping clients unlock and deliver residential and mixed-use projects from acquisition through to completion. As a growing business, we work directly with senior decision-makers and provide commercially focused advice across every stage of the development lifecycle.

This is an opportunity to work closely with the founder and gain exposure to every aspect of commercial and development management rather than being confined to a traditional QS role.

The Role

We're looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Assistant to support a growing pipeline of residential development and consultancy projects. This is a flexible role that can be undertaken remotely, with occasional meetings where required. You'll support the commercial delivery of live projects while developing your own skills across development, procurement and project delivery.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Quantity take-offs and measurement
  • Preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Cost planning and estimating
  • Tender documentation and tender analysis
  • Reviewing quotations and subcontractor pricing
  • Preparing valuations and variation assessments
  • Cost reporting and commercial dashboards
  • Procurement schedules
  • Maintaining commercial documentation
  • Supporting project managers and development managers
  • Assisting with commercial reviews across multiple live projects

What We're Looking For

We're interested in attitude as much as experience. You'll ideally have:

  • Experience within quantity surveying or commercial management
  • Knowledge of UK residential construction
  • Understanding of NRM2 and/or SMM7
  • Good Excel skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Experience with CostX, Bluebeam or similar software would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why Join Edgewood?

This isn't a corporate QS position. You'll work directly alongside the founder of a growing consultancy and gain exposure to:

  • Development Management
  • Commercial Management
  • Project Management
  • Procurement Strategy
  • Tendering
  • Development Recovery
  • Client Advisory
  • Commercial Negotiation

If you're looking for genuine responsibility, varied projects and the opportunity to grow with an ambitious business, we'd love to hear from you.
