About the Role

Our client, a well-established engineering and fabrication business based in Plymouth, is seeking a Welder/Fabricator. This role involves working on a variety of engineering projects, focusing on high-quality fabrication and welding tasks. The workshop environment supports the development of technical skills and adherence to industry standards.

The Role

  • Weld structures and frames based on fabrication drawings, instructions, and procedures.
  • Fabricate and weld basic structures both within the workshop and on-site.
  • Apply weld procedures correctly, ensuring compliance with coding and competence levels.
  • Conduct dimensional checks and record data on weld history sheets and QCPs as necessary.
  • Interpret various weld form symbols on drawings, understanding sizes and forms of welds.
  • Perform welding tasks in both vertical and horizontal planes as qualified.
  • Prepare edges appropriately before fabricating and welding.
  • Assist in assessing job materials and equipment quantities with the line manager.
  • Maintain and care for tools and equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions.
  • Contribute to the Personal Development Review process and follow up on agreed actions.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and company policies at all times.
  • Undertake additional duties as required within the scope of the role, including installation work.
