EDGE INNOVATE are now recruiting for an experienced Senior Production Design Engineer to join our busy Production Design Team.
Purpose: To advance and optimise production product designs and to improve efficiencies that will assist the company to grow in a profitable manner. Provide guidance, support and training to junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage design review and improvement projects on production product.
- Strive to standardise and reduce part count wherever possible by taking complete ownership of designs and application of standardised structure.
- Understand the complete manufacturing processes and provide engineering support to all functions as required.
- Co-ordinate with colleagues to support production and provide engineering information in a clear, concise manner throughout the process.
- Meet regularly with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Design Team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.
- Produce project status reports and other information as required by the Management Team to inform financial, sales and operational planning.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Co-ordinate with other departments relative to Engineering Design.
- Follow all company processes relating to equipment design.
- Contribute in the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work on and oversee multiple projects at any one time.
- Manage any external relationships which the company may develop with universities, institutes or other organisations for the purpose of acquiring new knowledge or access to technology for the purpose of diversifying the company’s product range.
- Check and approve drawings using design processes, procedures and checklists.
- Resolve design quality issues as they arise, managing the design and provide detailed solutions.
- Develop and train Design Engineers in design office processes and procedures.

- Fulfil the legal Health and Safety duties placed on employees by:

PERSON SPECIFICATION SENIOR PRODUCTION DESIGN ENGINEER
Essential Criteria Qualifications/ Experience & Knowledge:
- Good standard of education (to include English and Maths) with 8 years Design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment OR Educated to degree in an Engineering discipline with 4 years Design experience gained in a manufacturing environment/quarry and recycling equipment.
- Experience developing and training Design Engineers.
- Experience with CAD & Product Design / Development.
- Experience of hydraulic systems.
- Project management experience.
- Familiar with relevant industry standards, regulations and safety guidelines.
Desirable:
- Experience of electrical control systems.
- Experience of diesel engine installations.
- Solid Works or Pro/Engineer experience.
- Research and Development experience.

- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including effective presentation and influencing skills.
- Excellent analytical, innovative and problem-solving abilities.

Salary will be based on Experience and will be discussed at Interview Stage. Desirable criteria may be used for shortlisting. The Company reserves the right to enhance criteria at the shortlisting stage.
