This is an exciting opportunity for a Technical Services Officer to join the Technology team within Digital, Data and Technology.
This is an essential role in developing and implementing MS Operating Systems and a wider variety of applications for all University stakeholders.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include
- Supporting, implementing, operational delivery and proactive development of all PC and laptop operating systems (MS Windows and MAC) and application implementation, including supporting of hardware-based security features (BIOD / Firmware).
- Transitions of all devices from Windows 10 to Windows 11, making independent decisions on equipment to replace and upgrade
- Liasing and collaborating with system owners, other IT Systems team, client departments and expert users across the University, as well as external suppliers, maintainers and solution providers.
- Combing technical expertise with a commitment to excellent customer service.
This role has a university wide responsibility for the technical development, management, delivery and support across all sites.

- Current work experience in a Technical Services role with responsibility for IT Service delivery and Systems Management
- In depth knowledge of PC hardware, software and Windows operating systems and have good fault finding and fault diagnosis skills
- Extensive working knowledge of MS Windows operating system configuration and deployment
- Good working knowledge of MS Office including 0365 deployment and configuration
- Demonstrate an ability to solve complex technical problems and be able to disseminate technical issues to non-technical users
- Ability to write and analyse technical specifications and end user requirements
- Ability to work flexibly and reliably providing extended working hours cover when needed and out of hours on call services
