This is an exciting opportunity to join the university's Digital, Data and Technology Service as Interim Head of Cyber Security to lead the strategic development and operational management of cyber security across the University. This senior role shapes the vision for our cyber security services, ensuring our digital infrastructure, network security and cyber‑defences are robust, resilient and aligned with institutional goals.
You will provide expert guidance on cyber security practices, drive a culture of security awareness and ensure strong incident response and recovery capabilities. The role also plays a key part in enabling innovation-supporting the safe adoption of emerging technologies, including AI‑driven platforms, and ensuring third‑party and SaaS services meet security expectations.
Collaboration is central to this role, and you will work with a variety of stakeholders including system owners and external partners to influence strategic priorities and contribute to committees, projects and sector‑wide initiatives across higher education. As the leader of the Cyber Security Division, you will manage and develop a team of cyber security professionals, embedding a secure‑by‑design ethos across the University.

As Head of Cyber Security you will be an experienced leader of technical services within a complex organisation, with a background in areas such as Cyber Security, IT Infrastructure, Platforms or Digital Services, and a proven ability to shape strategy, drive service delivery and ensure high operational performance. You will bring a strong understanding of security, risk and resilience across enterprise IT environments to the role; including experience in incident management, service continuity and the secure delivery of digital services.
As a confident and capable people leader, you will excel at building and developing teams, managing competing priorities and delivering services that meet organisational needs. You will combine strategic thinking with operational focus, making sound decisions in complex or high‑pressure situations and balancing risk with the need to enable innovation.
