You will provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues at all levels, promote a positive safety culture, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements. The role will oversee the University’s audit programme, accident and near‑miss reporting processes, performance monitoring, compliance arrangements and training provision. You will work closely with stakeholders across the institution, coordinate the Health and Safety Representative network, and provide reporting and assurance to senior leaders and Governors.

As the University’s lead health and safety specialist, you will act as the key point of contact for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and drive the continuous improvement of health and safety management across the organisation.

About You

You will bring experience of developing strategy, implementing action plans, managing audits and investigations, monitoring performance, and embedding compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to deliver training, lead projects and provide assurance at a senior level.
