Experienced Estimator
Location: Cambridgeshire
Salary: Up to £85,000 + benefits package
What we’re looking for:
- Ambitious, self‑motivated, and proactive, with the ability to work independently or within a collaborative team.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and a clean driving licence.
- Highly organised, conscientious, and focused on achieving targets and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in commercial, MOD, education, or healthcare projects is ideal, along with familiarity with different procurement routes (D&B, Traditional, 2‑Stage) and projects ranging £2m‑£30m, but training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing cost plans from early RIBA stages to fully measured & rated BQs.
- Taking off quantities from drawings and producing detailed cost plans.
- Leading tender enquiries, subcontractor comparisons, and identifying scope gaps.
- Engaging with supply chain for value engineering options.
- Pricing site preliminaries, variations, and groundworks (Labour, Plant, Materials).
- Conducting site visits and presenting tender information to project teams.
- Using benchmarking and inflation forecasting tools to inform pricing.
- Liaising with buying departments for material quotations and managing risk/opportunity registers.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong numeracy and commercial awareness.
- Excellent organisation, time management, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Causeway or other estimating software is desirable.
- Clear and professional communication with clients and colleagues.
