My client is currently seeking a permanent Construction Buyer / Office Manager, based in the Worcester region. As a Construction Buyer, you will collaborate closely with our project site teams and procurement department to conduct essential take offs and tender preparations for material supply to our ongoing sites. The job role will be split 70/30, the other function being an overall Office Manager (30%). All applicants MUST have knowledge / previous experience of purchasing construction materials, namely; Concrete, Aggregate and Drainage / Pipework.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Buyer / Office Manager to join the team, responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process across a range of construction projects. The role involves developing and implementing procurement strategies, preparing accurate material schedules and quantity take-offs, and issuing enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors. The successful candidate will analyse quotations, negotiate competitive prices, and place timely orders for materials and plant, ensuring alignment with project programmes. Close coordination with the commercial team is essential to support the preparation of working budgets and ongoing cost analysis, with a focus on identifying cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.

The Construction Buyer / Office Manager will liaise closely with site management to coordinate material deliveries, monitor usage, and address any losses or damages to reduce waste and excess expenditure. This role also involves maintaining a comprehensive purchasing information system, managing a supply chain database and approved contractor list, and producing accurate reports on plant hire and procurement performance. A strong commitment to Health & Safety compliance, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective communication across teams is vital for success in this role.

Key Duties:

  • Procurement strategy development and implementation.
  • Create material lists for each project.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to prepare the working budget.
  • Liaise with Site Management to co-ordinate material deliveries to enable construction work to proceed to agreed programme.
  • Cost analysis of projects identification of cost engineering solution.
  • Material and procurement tracking.
  • Negotiate prices for new and existing materials.
