Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Annual Performance Bonus

We are recruiting for a highly successful and well-respected organisation within the Civils and Water sector. The business is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a proven track record of identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities. This is a growth-focused role dedicated to expanding activity in non-water infrastructure markets, supporting a strategic objective of achieving 30% revenue from non-water services.

The Role

You will be responsible for identifying and securing new opportunities across Energy, Rail, and Highways sectors, building and maintaining a strong sales pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify new market segments and key decision-makers within non-water infrastructure
  • Proactively generate leads through calls, networking, and industry events
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline using CRM systems
  • Represent the business at industry conferences and networking events
  • Conduct initial discovery meetings to qualify opportunities and understand client requirements
  • Handover qualified opportunities to the Commercial Director
  • Maintain ongoing social media activity, including:
  • Regulatory and industry updates
  • Industry innovations and insights
  • Project milestones, bid wins, and behind-the-scenes updates

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ Business Development experience within the Water sector or non-water infrastructure (e.g. Power, Telecoms, Rail)
  • Proven ability to achieve revenue growth KPIs
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience engaging Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors
  • Highly self-motivated with strong resilience and autonomy

Role Profile

  • No direct line management responsibility
  • Acts as an internal specialist, providing market intelligence on emerging sectors
  • Accountable for growth of the non-water sales pipeline
  • Significant freedom to identify and pursue new leads
  • Performance reviewed monthly against pipeline growth and conversion targets

Working Pattern

Office-based with a hybrid working model. Frequent travel to client sites and industry events.

Package

Competitive salary £50,000 – £60,000. Excellent performance-related bonus structure.
