Company: Edge Careers / Edge Freelance

Edge is looking to speak with experienced construction recruiters across Build, Civils, M&E, Fit Out and Residential. We are interested in speaking with recruiters who specialise in either Permanent recruitment or Freelance / Contract recruitment and who have the knowledge, relationships and drive to build a strong desk within their sector.

This is a genuine opportunity to join a well-established construction recruitment business with strong national connections across the industry. Edge has operated in the construction recruitment sector for around 20 years, building long-standing relationships with contractors, developers, subcontractors, and senior construction professionals across the UK.

We are now looking to strengthen and grow key divisions, giving the right recruiters the opportunity to take ownership of a defined market and develop it properly. We are not looking to recruit for the sake of adding numbers. We are looking for credible recruiters who understand their market, can build strong relationships, and want to be part of a focused, quality-led construction recruitment business.

Why this opportunity is different

At Edge, the opportunity is to grow a desk or division within an established business that already has strong industry credibility and construction sector relationships. We try to operate with clear sector, regional and client ownership, rather than creating unnecessary internal competition. That means the right person can develop their market with proper support, clear direction and the opportunity to benefit from their own efforts.

For an experienced recruiter, this gives you the chance to take advantage of an established platform, existing market reputation and a business that understands construction recruitment properly.

Sectors of interest

  • Build Recruitment: Main contractors, regional contractors, commercial build, education, healthcare, industrial, mixed-use and general contracting.
  • Residential Recruitment: Housebuilding, residential development, affordable housing, partnerships, technical, commercial, land, and operational teams.
  • Civils / Groundworks Recruitment: Civil engineering, infrastructure, groundworks, highways, utilities, remediation, earthworks, and specialist subcontractors.
  • M&E Recruitment: Mechanical and electrical contractors, building services, FM, technical services, design, project delivery, commercial and operational roles.
  • Fit Out Recruitment: Commercial fit out, interiors, refurbishment, retail, hospitality, office fit out and specialist subcontractors.

The opportunity

Depending on your background, this could be a role focused on either permanent recruitment or freelance recruitment within a clearly defined construction sector. You will be expected to develop and manage your own desk, build strong client relationships, understand vacancies properly, identify and engage suitable candidates, and manage the recruitment process professionally from brief through to placement.

We are a senior, experienced team and our approach is based on quality, knowledge, and relationships rather than volume for the sake of volume.

We are looking for people who:

  • Have experience in construction recruitment or a closely related built environment recruitment market.
  • Specialise in either permanent recruitment or freelance / contract recruitment.
  • Understand how to develop client and candidate relationships within their market.
  • Can work with credibility and confidence in their chosen sector.
  • Have a track record of recruitment activity, placements, or billing success.
  • Know how to qualify vacancies and candidates properly.
  • Are professional, commercially aware and motivated by results.
  • Want to be part of a business that values quality recruitment, not just CV sending.
  • Can contribute positively to a small but experienced team.
  • Have the drive to grow a desk, develop a sector, or strengthen an existing market.

What Edge can offer:

  • A well-established construction recruitment business with around 20 years’ sector experience.
  • Strong national connections across the construction industry.
  • The opportunity to grow a defined desk or division without unnecessary internal competition.
  • Clear regional, sector, and client ownership where possible.
  • A senior team with deep construction recruitment experience.
  • Support with resourcing, systems, candidate delivery, and business development.
  • Access to Vincere CRM, LinkedIn, job boards, and sector knowledge.
  • A more personal, less corporate environment where good recruiters can have real influence.
  • The chance to be part of a planned growth phase across key construction markets.
  • A business that wants recruiters to recruit, with better support around process, database usage, technology, and candidate sourcing.

Why now?

Edge is entering a new phase of growth. We are looking to strengthen the business by adding experienced recruiters across key markets. We want to build a stronger, more consistent operation with clearer sector focus, better systems, stronger resourcing, and more effective support around recruiters. This is a good opportunity for recruiters who want to join an established construction recruitment business at a time when they can make a real impact, take ownership of a market and help grow something properly.
