European Pricing and Structuring
EDFT’s Pricing & Structuring team is part of the Front Office. It sits alongside the origination and trading teams, providing comprehensive structuring, modelling, valuation and deal approval support for complex transactions and business development initiatives. The function works on structured cross-commodity deals and tailored asset backed hedge strategies on all EDFT traded commodities and markets, within liquid and illiquid conditions. The function supports the wider executive team in implementation of EDFT’s commercial strategies including new market entry, commercial opportunities evaluation and business development. In this process, we collaborate with commercial and control functions to produce comprehensive deal economics securing the best RRR under the internal risk, capital and liquidity limits.
Position purpose
EDFT are looking for a Structurer to join the Pricing & Structuring team. The successful candidate will assist commercial stakeholders in the development, structuring and valuation of transactions and business development initiatives. The role involves use of applied derivatives theory, risk management concepts, advanced analytics and elements of corporate finance: accounting, financial modelling. The candidate will successfully deploy their understanding of energy derivatives master agreements and contractual frameworks in the area of structured deals valuations, risk modelling, assets optimisation and investment.
Main responsibilities
- Develop and research ideas for new transactions – modelling and analytics
- Assist in the origination, structuring and valuation of transactions and business development initiatives by:
- Pricing of flow derivatives, valuation and comprehensive markets evaluation for Origination and Trading
- Preparing presentations showcasing ideas, methods and results for internal and external audiences
- Performing transaction risk / reward analysis and structuring payoffs that are optimal for the firm
- Supporting the transaction approval process (tax, credit, legal, accounting, risk etc.)
- Supporting the transaction integration process up to a point where deals are handed over to middle / back office
Experience required
- Degree level education in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Financial Mathematics, Applied Maths, or similar
- 2-4 years work experience within a bank (energy commodities), physical energy trading house, power assets modelling firm or Big 4 firm (energy advisory)
- Experience of energy markets
Technical requirements
- Excellent financial modelling skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to understand complex transaction structures and communicate to stakeholders both verbally and by way of written documents
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint in support of the above
- Python, VBA, or other programming languages skills in support of data analysis and industrialised tool development
- Fluent English with French and/or other languages beneficial
