The Opportunity

As an INR Site Inspector specialising in electrical systems, you'll be at the heart of ensuring the safety, reliability and excellence of complex electrical infrastructure at Hinkley Point C. You'll provide independent assurance and expert challenge across critical electrical installations, supporting our ambition to deliver a safe, low-carbon future for Britain. This is a unique opportunity to shape the delivery of world-class electrical engineering on a nuclear new build, influencing everything from installation through to commissioning and operation. Your expertise will directly impact safety, compliance and quality standards on a project setting global benchmarks. You'll join us on a salary of around £85,000 per annum, with potential for an annual bonus. This role is based at our Hinkley Point C site, with occasional travel to other EDF locations for training and collaboration.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong technical grounding in electrical engineering within a nuclear or highly regulated environment, alongside a detailed understanding of applicable codes, standards and best practices. You'll be confident reviewing complex electrical systems, influencing key decisions and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. We're looking for someone who brings curiosity, critical thinking and a proactive mindset, with the ability to communicate clearly and build trusted relationships at all levels.

Who You Are

We're looking for an INR Site Inspector with strong electrical engineering expertise who thrives on independence, integrity and collaboration. To be shortlisted, you need to offer:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering and/or Instrumentation & Control, ideally in complex or safety-critical environments
  • Familiarity with nuclear industry and international standards from organisations such as the ONR, WANO and the IAEA
  • Understanding of key UK legislation including the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, industrial or nuclear construction/installation projects
  • Proven ability to make risk-informed decisions within complex engineering environments

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will ordinarily require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Inspecting and assessing electrical installations, systems and equipment to ensure compliance with nuclear and industrial safety standards
  • Providing independent assurance on the robustness of electrical safety practices and engineering decision-making
  • Challenging and reviewing electrical design, installation, commissioning and maintenance activities
  • Observing and influencing behaviours and decisions in key project forums
  • Reporting clear, evidence-based insights to senior leadership and regulators
  • Communicating complex technical positions confidently, including delivering constructive challenge where required
  • Influencing stakeholders to drive improvements in electrical safety, quality and compliance
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with internal teams, contractors and external regulators
