About the Role

Ready to lead a high-performing engineering team delivering work that truly matters? Looking for a role where you can shape capability, support critical infrastructure, and make a tangible impact on the UK’s energy future? At EDF, Success is Personal and we’ll support you to grow in a way that works for you.

The Opportunity

As a Group Leader, you’ll join our Nuclear Services business, our technical centre of excellence, which supports our fleet of nuclear power stations and our nuclear new-build projects. The successful candidate will lead our Welding Metallurgy Group. In this role, you’ll lead and develop a team of skilled Welding engineers, ensuring the safe, reliable delivery of technical support across nuclear operations and the nuclear new-build projects at Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. Your leadership will help us contribute to the transition towards An Electric Britain, maintaining strong performance while supporting long-term capability growth. This role can be based at our Gloucester office, or in Glasgow. You’ll balance time on site (2-3 days a week in the office) with flexible working, giving you the space to lead effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Who You Are

As a Group Leader, you bring strong leadership and engineering/materials/science experience, with the ability to guide teams and deliver results in a safety-focused, regulated environment. You’re organised, collaborative and confident making decisions that balance quality, cost and delivery.

Are you experienced in?

  • Leading or managing engineering/scientific teams within a regulated industry
  • Delivering technical work while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
  • Managing resources, planning workloads and supporting business objectives
  • Communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

Ideally you will have worked within the nuclear industry, preferably with some experience in welding and metallurgy. However, a background of working within materials, corrosion or another engineering/science discipline is also appropriate. Holding a degree in an engineering or scientific discipline is desirable. To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will ordinarily require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and developing a team to deliver safe, high-quality engineering outputs
  • Managing performance, resources and team development, including recruitment and succession planning
  • Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, regulatory and quality requirements
  • Overseeing delivery against business objectives, budgets and timelines
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the organisation to support operational performance

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more. At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you.
