Main Duties:
- Clearly direct vehicles and mobile plant at all times ensuring they are kept separate, and pedestrians are safe.
- Minimize the amount of reversing where possible and be aware of the dangers caused when reversing.
- Use practical techniques and agreed system of signaling and hand signals to assist drivers and operatives in all maneuvers.
- Always be visible to drivers whilst directing vehicles and plant.
- Conduct daily briefings for visitors at the entrance, providing essential information regarding site conditions, including fire alarm tests and ongoing lifting operations.
- Collaborate with site supervisors to relay real-time information about operational activities that may impact visitor access or safety.
- Effectively communicate safety protocols and site updates to ensure all visitors are informed and aware of any potential hazards.
- Control access/egress to an exclusion zone and/or a controlled zone and prevent unauthorised pedestrian access into those zones.
- Ensure safe working zone arrangements are being adhered to and maintained. Must always work from a position of safety.
- Stand in a safe position, from which to guide all vehicles without being in the way.
- Keep traffic areas free of pedestrians.
- Be fully compliant with PPE requirements of the site.
- Always communicate clearly and effectively on the radio.
- Report any near miss incidents involving vehicle movements in the yard to the Lifting Supervisor.
- Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
- Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in their sole and absolute discretion, is necessary for the company to comply with obligations under the nuclear site license.
- Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
- Comply with reasonable work orders and be willing to assist other trades with basic duties, in situations where traffic management is not currently required.
You must:
- Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do).
- Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
- Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- CPCS Plant and Vehicle Marshall Training A73 or NPORS equivalent.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS).
- Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport.
